David Rattray Foundation’s schools excited about Harmony High books

Two schools, that form part of the FunDza Literacy Trust’s Popularising Reading programme, are so excited about the Harmony High books.

Mrs Sibiya of Siyanda Secondary School said that she can hardly get the books registered before the learners try to take them away to read. She said that the school used the theme of Sugar Daddy in one of the school’s debating sessions and that the books appeared to be triggering a powerful reaction among learners.

Mr Luvuno, principal of Ntalantala Secondary was also thrilled to receive the latest batch of books. He noted how relevant the themes were and how seeing these sometimes painful subjects in print and being able to read about and discuss them helps to empower the children to resist falling into the same traps.
